What to do in Tokyo?

I have been to Tokyo twice, once during summer and the other time during winter. Have been wanting to share what are the must do and see in Tokyo for sometime now. The places that I like to visit the most are Harajuku, Asakusa, Ikebukuro, Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo Tower and Shibuya. You can check out the travelogue page for my travels to Tokyo and Osaka. Here's a compilation of 6 areas you would want to visit when you're there for holiday!

Harajuku is a district in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. Harajuku is kind of where the quirky fashion in Tokyo is from. Take a walk down Takeshita Street and you will see many cute, girly and lolita girls fashion shops. There are also independent boutiques, and cafes for the young crowds.
There's a large DAISO store here! There's also a Calbee Plus store where you can buy chips with soft serve. WEGO for fashion of both sexes. You can also find major chain stores such as The Body Shop, McDonald's, and 7-Eleven here as well. I was here during winter hence the yellow leaves outside this historic station.

While you're here, you can also visit the Meiji Shrine. It is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shōken. The shrine itself is pretty big and is around 170 acres. Take your time to soak in the peaceful vibe within the shrine and make prayers for your friends and family. :)

What to do when you're in Asakusa? Asakusa is kind of famous for this Kaminarimon (Kaminari Gate). It is the first of 2 large gates leading to Sensoji Temple. The Nakamise shopping street leads from Kaminarimon to the temple grounds. Many people could be seen crowding around this area making memories by snapping pictures and selfies.

Coming to the Pokemon Centre is a must for every pokemon fan! There's seriously all kinds of merchandise here! Don't say i never remind you! Don't forget to buy the limited edition Mega Charizard Pikachu soft toy.  This outlet is located within Sunshine City. 13 minutes walk from Ikebukuro Station. While you're here, you can check out Parco, Seibu, Tobu, Animate and Tokyu Hands. There's even an ichiran ramen store nearby if you're craving for yummy ramen. Definitely MUST check out MUTEKIYA無敵家 ramen when you're here!!!

This is even taller than Tokyo tower. I prefer the Tokyo tower anyways. While you're here, go up to the observation deck for a panoramic view of Tokyo. There are 2 observation deck, one at 350 meters and the other one at 450 meters. The sky tree shop and cafe is located at the first observation deck. In case you want to grab a bite or wanna buy some souvenirs. The lower deck apparently has 3 levels~ and there's the Musashi Sky Restaurant, which serves French-Japanese fusion cuisine. There is also a shopping mall underneath. There's a aquarium, planetarium and postal museum in case you want to see something special. The new pokemon center was opened recently, so definitely check that out!!

Tokyo tower is probably the most iconic place in Tokyo! Must visit if you're in Tokyo. This is the same as Tokyo Skytree. There are 2 observation decks, one at 150 meters and the next one at 250 meters. You can even spot mount fuji here if you're lucky. Not sure when's the best time or season to visit. Can't see it during summer and winter. It's either too cloudy or too foggy. lol
There are some cafes,  restaurants and souvenir shops as well.

People normally thought of the famous Shibuya Crosswalk when they're there! It is the most popular shopping and entertainment area in Tokyo. The crowd never dies down even at late night.

One of the most notable landmark is Hachiko~ A statue of a loyal dog named Hachiko. According to a famous story, the dog waited for his master every day in front of Shibuya Station, and continued to do so for years even after his master had passed away. It is one of Tokyo's most popular meeting points. For guys fashion, do check out OIOI and 109 Men's. There are also other malls like Tokyu, Seibu, Loft, Parco, and Marui. I felt that the malls are pretty much similar, but you can check out the basements for food if you're into that~
