Namba Yasaka Shrine in Osaka

Osaka is all about Food, food, food and more food but there are some shrines worthy to visit as well! Here's Namba Yasaka Shrine. It's pretty famous for this Giant Lion head.

Spanning over 12 meters high and 11 wide, this 獅子舞台 Shishibutai mask distills an impressive figure, which keeps between its teeth a rather classic meditation place. This giant lion was not built until 1975. It sees two processions pass every year: on the third Sunday of January, inspired by the myth of Susano, and mid-December "Naniwa-Gion".

The lion's large mouth calls for triumph, drinks up wickedness, and brings luck in competitions and in business, attracting an endless stream of worshipers from all over the country. The lion's eyes are fitted with lights, and it's nose with speakers. This gives the lion quite a different expression, which can be enjoyed at night during festivals.

REVIEW: The Larder Cafe - Newest Cafe in Toa Payoh?

The Larder Cafe is the newest addition to the cafes in Toa Payoh and is situated in Toa Payoh Central.  The whole place is dimly lit with simple cemented walls and floors and wooden furniture.  Larder means a place where food is stored.

Address: 177 Toa Payoh Central, #01-124, 310177
Opening Hours: Tues - Sun 11am - 10pm

Here's what we ordered:

Seafood Aglio ($16 SGD)
Smoked Salmon Egg Benedict ($16 SGD)
Hazelnut Latte ($5.30 SGD)
Tea ($4.00 SGD)

Smoked Salmon Egg Benedict is served with greens. Eggs were swamped with generous hollandaise sauce atop smoked salmon. Brioche bread is beneath all these. It's nothing special as alot of other places are serving these kinda brunch food.

Seafood Aglio consists of squid, prawns and mussels. Also nothing fanciful.

REVIEW: Kith Cafe at Roberson Quay & Toby's Estate

Kith Cafe at Roberson Quay
Address: 7 Rodyk Street #01-28
Robertson Quay
Singapore 238215
Opening Hours: Sat – Sun : 7am -6pm
Mon – Fri : 7am- 4pm

Chicken Curry, Mixed Green Salad, Poached Egg, Baked Banana Leaf Rice

The chicken curry was not very spicy which was good. I feel like the baked banana leaf rice's portion should be bigger as the curry portion is quite big. Would be better if it's proportionate! The cafe itself is small and doesn't have alot of indoor seats. Weather is too hot nowadays to sit outside. They do have wifi which is a bonus! :)

Address: 8 Rodyk Street, #01-03/04, 238216
Opening Hours: MON - THURS: 7.30AM - 6PM
FRI - SAT: 7.30AM - 8PM
SUN: 7.30AM - 7PM

Cakes are priced at $7 while the cafe mocha i had was $6.
Their wooden table is infested with ants which is quite bad for a well-known cafe, other than that they have wifi. Nice to chill here with cakes and coffee. :)
