REVIEW: Club Street Social and Sarnies Cafe at Telok Ayer

Visited Club Street Social after my dental appointment. What attracted me to this place initially is because of their free wifi The place is totally not crowded after lunch hours. They were playing nice music and their decor is absolutely fantastic! Not sure what kind of decor is this so i googled! Manhattan chic interior it is.  I noticed there were a lot of Caucasians and occasionally some Office workers who walked in for a meal.

Address: 5 Gemmill Lane, Singapore 069261
Opening Hours: Mon -Fri 12pm - 12am
Sat 11am - 12am
Sun 11am - 4pm

I ordered a cup of coffee and was ready to study.

And then came my lunch! Pork and veal meatballs sandwich served with fries and greens. The bread is too hard for my teeth though, other than that the meatballs were nice! :)

I went to sarnies which is nearby after that. Ordered Chicken Pesto salad! It is basically a mixture of Mushrooms, Cherry Tomatoes, Roasted Chicken, Mixed Greens, Pesto and Balsamic Dressing. I just wanna say the roasted chicken were so tender! Chicken in salads normally were hard and blah, probably due to the use of breast meat but in sarnies, it is so good! This costs $15. You can probably share this between 2 person. Sarnies has wifi too, in case you feel like working.

REVIEW: Wheeler's Yard at Lorong Ampas - Is it the most Iconic Blue door ever?

Wheeler's Yard is an old warehouse transformed into a bicycle workshop and cafe. It was mother's day and i decided to bring my mum here for Brunch! Yes we walked all the way here from Toa Payoh. This blue warehouse door has been one of the most photographed door on instagram.

Address: 28 Lor Ampas, 328781
Opening Hours: Sunday - Thursday - 10.30am - 10pm
Closed - Monday
Friday - Saturday 10.30am - 11pm

What I like about this place is it is very photogenic everywhere!! This place is decorated with hipster bikes everywhere. It is super spacious too as it occupies the whole warehouse! The seating arrangement is quite well-spread out with a large communal table occupying the center.

Wheelers yard big breakfast($17.90).

This consists of runny scrambled eggs, roasted tomatoes & potatoes, toasts, bacon and pork sausage. This is quite filling for 1 person.

Egg Benedict. ($18.90)

Poached eggs over greens, ham and toasted english muffins, topped with homemade hollandaise sauce served with salad.

Truffle Fries.($14.90)

Not really nice. I'm not sure whether it is really the truffle taste or what. Didn't like it! The portion is super huge as well! I think can share with 4 or more people.

Flat white & cappucino. Didn't like the coffee. Self service here! They gave us a buzzer so we can collect our food later from the counter.

Mandatory flat lay of our food!!!

I was also there for dinner some time back. Ordered their prawn aglio olio($20.90). Prawns were succulent and there's a subtle sweetness to this dish due to the tomatoes! Over priced though!

REVIEW: Baker & Cook cafe at Holland Village

This post is super throwback! Was looking for somewhere to chill at Holland V and friend recommended this place. This place is kind of quiet compared to the rest of the cafes there but nonetheless provided respite from the nightlife in Holland V.

Baker & Cook - Singapore's only true artisan bakery & food store chain is the brainchild of Global Baker Dean Brettschneider. This cafe sells a wide array of cakes, bread, brunches and packaged products. They have the usual Eggs Benedict, pancakes, coffees, and pastries.

Since we went there after lunch, we only ordered some coffee and cakes! We ordered blueberry cheesecake and carrot cake! I like how moist the carrot cake is and the subtle sweetness it gives. Blueberry cheesecake is alright though. Not too sour from the overtly topping of blueberry as shown in the picture below. Coffee is awesome and it is good to pair it with cakes like how we chill~

Address: Baker & Cook - Chip Bee Gardens,
44 Jalan Merah Saga,
#01-56 Chip Bee Gardens,
(Holland Village MRT)

Opening Hours: Sunday to Thursday - 7.30am to 8pm
Friday to Saturday - 7.30am to 10pm
Brunch - 7.30am to 7.30pm on weekends and Public Holidays

REVIEW: IT Roo Cafe at Johor Bahru - The best chicken chop in town?

Went to JB with my friend to help him get his contact lenses. Wanted to bring him to The Replacement Lodge & Kitchen cafe or Faculty of Caffeine cafe. Replacement lodge is closing at 6pm and faculty of caffeine is CLOSED! Didn't know where to go until i spotted this! The cafe operates in a pre-war building and has attracted a lot of local and tourists like us that has come to the area for cafe hopping. It is an old fashioned cafe that sells chicken chop! The interior is decorated with old pictures and the whole cafe just exudes a very vintage vibe. :)

This cafe was awarded the "Best Chicken Chop in Malaysia" title by The Star newspaper in 2003. They even put it up outside their shop. Not very humble, eh? haha

I have a choice of choosing grilled or fried chicken and black pepper or mushroom sauce. You can choose to add an egg to your chicken chop as well like me which cost RM17. Expect tender chicken with generous sauce here! Each order comes with a side of potato wedges and coleslaw. I have not tired any chicken chop in Malaysia before but this is one of the best i have eaten. :)

Address: 17 Jalan Dhoby, Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
Opening Hours: 12pm - 10pm daily
