REVIEW: One Man Coffee at One North

Dropped by One Man Coffee for a coffee break after having lunch at envy coffee. This is their 3rd outlet. Their first and second outlet is at Upper Thomson road and myvillage @ Serangoon Garden. I have never been to their outlets but they have one communal table and one standing bar here. Pretty small space for a coffee joint. I guess this is more for people to buy back coffee to their work space or grab a quick lunch. They do serve sandwiches here as well.

KINESIS #01-15
Opening Hours: 8AM - 5PM (MON - FRI)

Ordered a cup of latte. They serve really good coffee here, Good for sleepy workers who want to stay awake. :)

REVIEW: The Dream Cafe at Toa Payoh

Went to this cafe after exercising with my friend at Toa Payoh Safra Energy one last week. I have always wanted to come to this place as I always jogged past this place during night time.  It was an unexpected find. I guess this place must be popular among students with their close vicinity to a few nearby schools. They offer free wifi too, along with student promotions. Although I did ask them about this, but they say there aren't any at the moment. Oh well.

Address: Blk 163, Toa Payoh Lorong 1, #01-1016
Singapore 310163
Opening Hours: Mon to Sun: 1pm – 10:30pm

My friend did comment that the welcome kitty sign did imply that this might be a cat cafe. LOL Anyways it serves its purpose as it is.

No one on a weekend lunch hour!! :o Pretty spacious place.

As with other popular food choices among cafes, they offer the rainbow cake as well. Did not try that though! May be back to try out their cakes another day.

Their menu is not really extensive though!

I ordered the fish and chips! It comes with curly fries, mixed greens and sauce for the fish. The fish is fried to a golden brown and wasn't bad at all but not so fantastic as well. I guess it's just a normal dish. Did not find out what is their hot favorite here.

REVIEW: Big Bern's American Grill at Toa Payoh

Not sure what ever happened to Botak Jones but i was informed that this was created by the same boss behind Botak jones and they're back at Toa Payoh! The new located is quite near to their last location at the industrial park. I feel that their new location is not bad as it's air conditioned.

Address: Blk 978 Toa Payoh North
#02-01 (food court/ canteen)
Opening Hours: Mon - Fri 11.30am-8pm
Sat 11.30am-3pm
Closed on Sundays.

Their portion is still as big as ever!! Their style has never changed. You pay extra and get to choose 2 sides. I am having pasta salad and spicy fries here. They gave me too much fries. I think i did not finish this! :) Ordered Cajun Chicken as always! It's grilled chicken breast topped with mozzarella cheese and spicy sauce. Find that the texture of the chicken is just nice.

Here's my big bern's beef cheese burger. Sides are pasta salad and double baked cheese potato(mashed).  I saw that they have different pricing for small patty, single patty and double patty! Here's my single patty order. Juicy beef patty covered in cheese with tomatoes and cabbage.

REVIEW: GRUB cafe at Bishan Park

Went to GRUB for dinner with a friend awhile ago. I would not say this is ulu as there are 4 buses that goes to this place from Ang Mo Kio MRT. I have heard raving reviews about their Sakura Ebi Pasta so i decided to grab my friend to try this out with me. He ordered other food instead though. lol

Address: 510 Ang Mo Kio Ave 1, 569983 (Bishan Park)
Opening Hours: Weekdays 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM, 5:30 – 10:30 PM
Weekends 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, 5:30 – 10:30 PM

Anyways, Did not quite like it. This was cooked in the agilo olio style. It was rather dry to me, Feels like like dry BCM. This was drizzled in mentaiko sauce with fried sakura ebi and big succulent prawns. I feel that they can be more generous with their mentaiko. :)

Sakura Ebi Pasta ($17 SGD)

Also ordered this churros. It comes with dark chocolate and tangy creme anglaise sauce for you to dip on. This was served warm, with  a cripsy outer layer and  soft on the inside. I quite like this. Good for a afternoon tea break. :)

Churros ($9 SGD)

REVIEW: The Daily Press, The Coffee Daily and Han's

Gonna lump all these into 1 post!

This was back when it was still the halloween period where everywhere else is introducing their halloween inspired menu. Not sure if The daily press will bring this back next year though.

This was Beetroot spaghetti with turkey bacon and green apples. I guess the redness of the pasta was caused by the beetroot cream. This taste a tad too salty for me but i finished it nonetheless. Green apples does nothing to the overall taste.

Went to the coffee daily cafe before my exams! The location of this cafe is quite ulu IMO as it is not near to any MRT station.

Address: 75 Brighton Cres, 559216
Opening Hours: Monday - Thursday and Sunday 930am - 1030pm
Friday and Saturday 930am - 1130pm

Really liked how this cafe is so conducive for studying. The inner part of the cafe is filled with people with their laptops. I ordered this All time american set. This consists of scrambled egg, pork bratwurst, streaky bacon, croissant and mixed greens. Did not managed to finish this! The bacon was too salty. Pork bratwurst was too difficult to chew. (Probably because of my braces) Was difficult cutting the croissant as well. Only the scrambled egg was good.

Did not know Han's has breakfast menu! I was at travelling to Joo Koon previously to walk to my camp for reservist. I went to the new mall (The Warehouse Club by NTUC FairPrice) for breakfast! Initially i was eating at toast box but level 2 had Han's. This was okay. Scrambled was overcooked on the outside but it is creamy inside. Ham was hard and not yummy. :(
